Dear Families,
We had a wonderful week of firsts!
*Our first spelling test was today! It was great! Thank you for helping your child practice and be ready. Your child will come home with new words and homework on Monday for the test next week Friday.
*We had our first ticket turn in! There was a lot of excitement in the air this morning as kids went without shoes, brought in stuffed animals, had show and tell, got to chew gum in class, had dessert that I brought in, and so many other things! Some even saved their tickets for bigger plans!
*Our first chapel was this morning. I love starting our days this way!
*We met up with our buddies yesterday for the first time and sat with them at chapel this morning. We will be partnering with Mrs. Matta's first grade students. We talked about getting to know them, making our time together all about them, and making them feel special and loved as part of God's family.
*We also set our first AR goals today. New goals will be set every month. Your child will come home with a sheet with his or her goal on it attached to a record of the tests taken so far this year. We have only been able to take tests this week so the record of tests may not be very long. I based September's goal on tests taken so far this week and the fact that we only have three weeks left in September. I will base next month's goal on this month's points. If your child's goal seems low this month, it will probably go up next month :).
*The first memory verse of the year went so well! We have a tree in the hall between the elementary school and middle school that every student in the elementary school will add a leaf to as they memorize the theme verse for the year. We added our leaves today and I took a picture of the class by the tree. Click on the Photos page to see the picture of these amazing students!
Have a great weekend!
In Christ,
Jonni Hoeksema
