Dear Families,
Yesterday was the National Day of Prayer. The theme for this year is Love One Another. We spent some time talking about what it means to really love one another. We also prayed for our world, community, school, church, and families. I really enjoyed being able to spend that time together! We took some time during chapel this morning to focus on prayer again. What a blessing it is to be able to do this as a school!
Next week is Grandparents' Day! The Parent Presentation of our Grandparent's Day program is on Thurs. May 9 at 6:30 PM. Students should plan to arrive and be in their classroom at 6:15 PM. Come early and enjoy our Elementary Art Show. Please keep your student with you until 6:15 when our classroom door will be opened. We consider this performance to be a family event so if you bring performer's siblings, please make sure that they sit with you and not somewhere on the bleachers by themselves. If younger children are being noisy we respectfully ask that you take them to the atrium so those around you are able to listen without distraction.
Students should plan to wear blue jeans or dark pants/shorts on the bottom and their blue KCES "Growing in God's Word" themed t-shirt for both performances of our program. We will be presenting our program to Grandparents on Friday May 10 at 9:00 AM. Please have Grandparents' come early so they can enjoy the Art Show. Coffee and donuts will be served at 10:00 AM. Your child is welcome to go home with his or her grandparents after the program, but they MUST be signed out in our classroom. If your child is not going home with grandparents please arrange for dismissal at 11:40.
Next week is also the Book Fair. Flyers are coming home today with some information about the Book Fair. Our class is shopping and making wish lists on Wednesday afternoon. Students will be able to buy books at that time as well as at the Parent Program and on Grandparents' Day.
May 16 is our annual Walk-a-Thon. We are asking that each student raise $141 to honor 141 years of Christian education at Kalamazoo Christian Schools. More information and a fund raising packet will be coming home Friday or Monday.
Have a great weekend!
In Christ,
Jonni Hoeksema
