Dear Families,
Next week we will take a few minutes to celebrate Valentines Day with a special emphasis on being kind and caring toward other people. If your child would like to bring in valentines to pass out to his or her classmates we will have a time to do that.
Mrs. Gavan is still collecting tissue boxes for a project she would like to do with the third graders. If you have any empty boxes please send them in on Monday so we know how many we have!
We collected almost 300 boxes of cereal for Loaves and Fishes! That is incredible! Our next collection is healthy snacks like granola bars, crackers, etc.
February 18-21 will be "Language Arts" week at school. On the 18th we will all go to the gym to read for 2018 seconds together. Everyone can bring in a blanket and pillow to make it nice and cozy. On the 19th I will go read to a kindergarten class and their teacher will come in to read to our class. That is also the day that we have a special author visit. On the 20th students (and staff!) are dressing up as book characters. It will be a fun week!!
Beginning in third grade we have track and field day. More information will come out on this later as well as a sign up for volunteers. The date we are planning on is May 22. We have scheduled May 29 as a back up date. I wanted to give you plenty of notice in case you wanted to take time off to join us!
Have a great weekend!
In Christ,
Jonni Hoeksema
